'Girls Girls Girls Night' was a lot of fun, even if I WAS the only one to participate in the "Dude Looks Like a Lady" contest... and repeatedly manhandled by Tony.

There was definitely noticable excitement from people when there was a trivia contest involved. I remember Skip completely baffled everyone at Soundtrack Night with his 90s set - all the music was FEATURED in movies in the 90s, but most of it was recorded in the 70s or 80s. Way to make us think, Skip.

'Nightclub Night' was probably the most surreal, as every set was so completely different from anything else that night. I recall someone telling me it was like the Twilight Zone... in a good way. It really was like taking a trip through time and across the globe, all in one location. "Let me take you on a trip/Around the world and back/And you won't have to move/You just sit still"

But my favorite has to be the original 'Guilty Pleasures Night'. Talk about confronting one's demons - the idea stemmed from a nightmare I had had about DJing an 80's night, but discovering nothing but cheesy 90s in my collection (the DJs equivalent to the "going to school in your underwear" dream). Two months later, the dream became reality. Skip put his reputation on the line with a set of Neil Diamond vs. Kiss, and Andy T came out of retirement to weave a fantastic set of 70s disco. Two of the sets - my 90s Dance Cheez and Melting Girl's jaw-dropping 80s Hair Metal hour - were considered some of the best DECADE sets, and were "recreated" at the 1-Year Anniversary party. Lesson learned - sometimes, there's gold in them thar nightmares.

Yeah, Guilty Pleasures Night was a good one. ;)
        • This post only got four responses? Come on people! Let's hear some of those fond memories. I'll start...

          My favorite themes...

Well, I have to begin with the very first one, Friday, March 25, 2005, at Cherry Bar. It was so exciting to start a new club with Candy! It was our little baby- so to speak. We had a really good turnout and a great DJ line-up of Moonshine, Donimo, Adrian & Mysterious D, and The Melting Girl. A great way to start a new club.

Then I loved the third "Guilty Pleasures Night" in a row on October 21 of that same year. I thought the GP nights were really what DECADE was all about- giving DJ’s a chance to play music they (sometimes secretly) love. I remember Verablue was so excited to be able to play Corey Hart in public! This event also marked the debut of DJ Candy with her very first set- of 80’s Hair Metal!

I agree with Tomas that "Nightclub Night" was very surreal. It was probably our most serious event too, as each DJ felt like they really had to "represent" their nightclub.

"What’s The Connection Night" was a lot of fun putting our sets together and trying to make all the songs connect. And then watching everyone trying to figure out what the hell the connections were!

I think I had the most fun at our 1-Year Anniversary Party though. I felt like it was quite an accomplishment to make it to one year and I was very proud of our "little club that could". Hopefully the 2-Year Anniversary Party will end up being the best one of all.

Starting a business with someone is one of the things that can really test a friendship. I’m happy to say that Candy and I never had a problem. She was a pleasure to work with from beginning to end. We really did DECADE for the fun of it, and the chance to bring our friends together for a night of different music, dancing, drinking and having fun together. I love all you guys and thank you for your support for these two great years of DECADE.

Hope to see you all on Friday,
          Skip
          • Guest DJ night was fun. I heard songs I hadn't heard in ages from everyone. It was a blast making the set list with Danny.

Guilty Pleasures made me smile. Candy kicked ass with the hair metal. She also got into it with vintage metal hair.

Dina & I dancing to the Spice Girls (one of my guiltiest pleasures) was fantastic.

The game nights were great and Mizz Viva dominated as quiz Queen.

All in all I don't think I ever had a bad time at Decade. The bar, the music and the people made it a favorite. Skip proved once again that he is worthy of my groupie behavior :)
