Re: Soundtrack Night
Thu, October 27, 2005 - 9:23 AMOooh, good theme. Might have to show up for this one.
Make sure Senor Diablo plays the March Violets - "Turn to the Sky" from the movie Some Kind of Wonderful.

Re: Soundtrack Night
Thu, October 27, 2005 - 10:22 AMI think the 80's should have got 2 hours of soundtracks... So many movies with awesome soundtracks and what a decade for music ehh? Hey did I mention Danny Elfman did a few soundtracks? Yeah, good ol' Oingo Boingo did a few.... Oohh... anyone got the soundtrack to "The Forbidden Zone?" That was the Elfman's at their best... (ok, maybe not their best, but I loved that movie.)
OOhh... now that I think about it the 70's had quite a few good movies... an extra 30 minutes or so there could be good... I smell a disco... -

Re: Soundtrack Night
Thu, October 27, 2005 - 11:12 AMOingo Boingo? Disco?
Tony, Guilty Pleasures night is over. You'll have to pleasure yourself from now on.
Preferably at home.

Re: Soundtrack Night
Thu, October 27, 2005 - 11:16 AMaye.. I've got the 'Forbidden Zone' soundtrack... Did you know that soundtrack was largely the result of sleep deprivation? Richard wanted Danny to compose the score "within a two week 'round-the-clock composing, arranging, and recording marathon" (from the liner notes).
Not sure I'd play anything from it, though, for the 80's set... it's from 1990, and many of the tracks are from the 40's...
As much as I like Elfman, I'd love to hear Skip play Prince's "Batdance". Tee-hee. -

Re: Soundtrack Night
Thu, October 27, 2005 - 11:25 AMHey Tomas, got any Purple Rain for the 80's hour? -

Re: Soundtrack Night
Thu, October 27, 2005 - 3:12 PMPurple Rain? That was a movie?
just kidding... yeah, Purple Rain must be represented! -
-
Re: Soundtrack Night
Thu, October 27, 2005 - 4:15 PMWait a sec, if you are going to play Purple Rain, I'm gonna need someone to dance to it with... You're gonna kill my stag status with that one Tomas! -
-
Re: Soundtrack Night
Thu, October 27, 2005 - 6:44 PMI love the movie "Purple Rain," but what KILLS me is how Prince will perform a completely fabulous number like "Darling Nikki" and the audience will react with complete ambivalence.

Thu, October 27, 2005 - 11:39 AMYay the return of DJ Candy - since I missed her debut, I can't wait to see her second turn at the decks.

Re: Soundtrack Night
Fri, October 28, 2005 - 10:30 AMAre you guys nuts?!
Everytime I see Purple Rain I have to turn the TV off 'cause I'm laughing so hard. I mean, who drives around on a motorcycle all dressed up in purple glittery tights and a jeri-curled hairdo?
Oh yeah....street tough guy. Meeting Prince in a dark alley is about as scary as meeting Mother Teresa in a dark alley. -
-
Re: Soundtrack Night
Fri, October 28, 2005 - 10:36 AMThis IS why we like it. It's pretty damned funny!
The music is pretty good... -

Re: Soundtrack Night
Mon, October 31, 2005 - 7:45 AMPrince is a GUY?!? C'mon. Seriously. What's to like?
Little Red Corvette? Raspberry Beret? Gimme a break.
BTW: You're moving into John's territory by making short jokes. He's gonna get mad at you.

Hey it just occurred to me, there was this movie in the 80's where they had this short little robot that served them drinks and snacks, he was just the right height... Maybe we can strap a popcorn bowl to P'Lito's head and have him putt around the club serving people... -
-
Re: Soundtrack Night
Tue, November 1, 2005 - 5:08 PMBest idea I've heard from you so far, Tony.
