Wed, August 30, 2006 - 11:17 AMWell, I am from Modesto so you can't really insult me more than I already have been by being born there. ;)
I was just meerly pointing out that not everyone from Modesto eats their meals out of
the back of a taco wagon or a 7-11. -

Re: "VICE BINGO" explained
Wed, August 30, 2006 - 6:39 PMI got to audit the beautiful Modesto office of my new firm last week, and let me tell you it was *so* exciting.
I went out of the hotel for my usual 3 mile walk and ran out of "downtown" several times. Not that anything was open, anyway. My senior asked several brokers about a great new restaurant (not sure how she heard about it), and none of the brokers had heard of it. We ate at a sports bar instead. I also ate at Fuzio, which was quite good for a chain (didn't know about the Olive Garden).
The tallest building in town is the Doubletree.
There's a giant parking structure across the street from the Doubletree and I can't believe it's ever filled.
It was eye-opening, really. Especially because, as the senior auditor for the Western Division, I'll probably get stuck with all the branches in the little bitty (and mentally littly bitty like Modesto) towns. -

Thu, August 31, 2006 - 10:27 AM"Once you've had a midget, you never go back."
Does that mean they never go back to a midget cause they weren't satisfied?
Wow, so I guess your one of the lucky midgets, huh? Mrs P'Lito did come back.
I would also say even though it is not a vice for me personally, I would guess there is
a midget vice out there in some group of people somewhere. ;) -

Modesto's not a vice. It's a curse.

Re: "VICE BINGO" explained
Thu, August 31, 2006 - 11:01 AMI had to go to Modesto once for work about 6 years ago. It wasn't so bad. I went to this nice historical society located in an old house in the middle of park. I was just upset that I couldn't find any tasty tacos for lunch. I thought for sure I'd be able to get good tacos in Modesto. Modesto is not that bad- it's could be worse like Yuba City.
And Dina you should try Tower Cafe (next to Tower theater) when you go to Sacramento. It's off of Hwy 50 take the 15th St. exit. It's at 16th and Broadway. mmm....Malaysian Chicken sandwich. Also the birthplace of Tower Records. -

Re: "VICE BINGO" explained
Thu, August 31, 2006 - 11:09 AMModesto has a TIKI bar and some good thrift store shopping! can't beat that!
that Malaysian Chicken sandwich sounds yum! If we have time on the way back maybe we'll stop there! we're actually going to Citrus Heights. -

Re: "VICE BINGO" explained
Fri, September 1, 2006 - 9:14 AMWell it only took me 2 days, but I thought of a folly song. It also has booze in it. Would this song score get 3 points - Gin in the title, and alcohol and folly in the song?
Me and My Gin as sung by Dinah Washington (also known as Gin House Blues)
excerpt -
Well, I got high last night
and I took my man to his wife's front door.
I said I got juiced last night
and I took my man to his wife's front door.
Oh but she was a .45 packin' momma
and I ain't gonna try that no more -

Re: "VICE BINGO" explained
Fri, September 1, 2006 - 11:14 AMTitle = 1 "drinking" square
Lyrics = 1 "drugs" square & 1 "drinking" square.
Bingo! -
-
Re: "VICE BINGO" explained
Fri, September 1, 2006 - 11:39 AMActually I think the "I was high last night" refers to drinking. In a lot of older songs being stoned or high indicates drinking. But would folly be taking your lover to his house with his wife there? Sounds like a bad idea to me! -
-
Re: "VICE BINGO" explained
Fri, September 1, 2006 - 12:30 PMEmploying imponderable deduction in reasoning, one can conclude, based on the limited parameters of your question,
that yes, taking one's lover to said house containing said lover's spouse, would indeed be unequivocally considered as "folly".
Ouch, my head hurts! -
-
Re: "VICE BINGO" explained
Fri, September 1, 2006 - 1:16 PMDid you know that "Folly" is also an archetectural term?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folly
Based on the definition, I'd have to say that Coit Tower is a folly. -

Fri, September 1, 2006 - 3:41 PMduh... gotta work on those reading and comprehension skills.

Re: "VICE BINGO" explained
Wed, August 30, 2006 - 3:24 PMHmmmm, yeah that is a good question.
Folly means a few different things.
I am guessing you are thinking about the stupid sort of folly
and not the building sort of folly. ;)
