For the middle three sets on Friday:
10-11pm - 1970's Covers - Skip (New Wave City)
11-12am - 2000's Covers - John (New Wave City)
12-1am - 1980's Covers - Candy (DECADE)
there will be a Trivia Contest each hour (starts at 10pm sharp).
The object is to name the song and artist/band being played and then if it is the original, name a cover. If it is a cover, then name the original.
Example: if in my 1970's set I play "Surfin' Bird", you would write down-
Cover - "Surfin' Bird" by The Ramones (from 1977)
Original - "Surfin' Bird" by The Trashmen (from 1963)
Got it? Good! Let's play!
Name That Cover (the Original and the Cover) with sweet prizes!
Complimentary Milk & Cookies at Midnight
Cinco de Mayo drink specials -
Fresh Lime Margaritas ($5.50)
Corona Beer - La Cerveza mas Fina ($3)

Re: The Trivia Contest explained
Tue, May 2, 2006 - 2:26 PMDang it! A trivia contest? Ok, you already said I am hopeless for wearing sweats... Now a hopeless trivia contest for me.
Uhhmm... Miss Viva, Kitten? Shall we form a group? Of course I would be in it just to look pretty, not for my brain... -

Re: The Trivia Contest explained
Tue, May 2, 2006 - 2:44 PMSo even though I am not playing cause I will be DJing I still have a question.
Are people going to get half points for at least knowing the song if they don't
know the band doing the cover?

Re: The Trivia Contest explained
Tue, May 2, 2006 - 2:46 PMTony you'll have to be on our team otherwise your just going to copy from our paper any way right? -

Re: The Trivia Contest explained
Tue, May 2, 2006 - 4:28 PMBetter I'm with you than copying off of you.... This way I can copy the one question you do not know from the other teams... They will never know, no one ever knows when I copy from them... I am so slick and coy when I get the answers from them.

Good question John. It will be very easy to score points (unless your name is Tony).
For each song played, there are six points possible:
1 point - Name of song
1 point - Artist/band
1 point - Whether it is an original or a cover
1 point - Name of artist/band who recorded a cover, or the original, for the same song
1 bonus point for the year each song was released
Total possible points - 6
Penalties - minus 10 points for:
Copying from another player/team
Using a cell phone or laptop to get answers
Asking the DJ for answers
Pretending to talk to the DJ in order to sneak a look at the label on the record
