This will be our last "Guilty Pleasures" Night, we promise. Problem is, people/DJ's keep coming up with good ideas or different takes on a "Guilty Pleasure".
So in your best Toni Tennille voice, sing it with me,
"Do that to me one more time
Once is never enough..."

  • CBGB vs Studio 54? That's an unfair fight.

It's CBGB by a knockout in the first round.
    • No WAY!! Studio 54... It was all about the drugs and disco... When I was a wee kid hangin at the Studio I was so high the music just flowed...

Man drugs at 54... There was this guy... Hhmm.. I think I was too high to remember much... I must have been like 7 then.... Ahh the golden days... My 7th birthday at 54!

      Freak off!
      • Unsu...

I am with P'Lito on who will win the CBGB's VS. Studio 54.
It is going to be CBGB's all the way.
I have a special source telling me who is going to win. ;)

Oh and Skip I just have to say in your description of "ALL NYC" bands. the Bee Gees are English. Just thought I'd
throw that out there. ;) Oh don't worry we'll have some Bee Gees sounds to groove to there, so don't you worry your pretty little head off about that. I am just saying.
        • John sweetie I think when Skip was referring to "NYC" he was referring to the CLUBS not the BANDS. just trying to not be pedantic!

BTW I am HOPEFULLY making a visit to CBGB's in a couple weeks...if it's still open that is!!!!
          • There you go again with the big words. You can't use "pedantic" twice without the grammar police coming down on you.

I think CBGB is already shut down but have a nice trip anyway.

            Pedantically yours,
            P'lito
            • CBGB's [supposedly] closed last time I was out there a few months ago... However looking at their website:

"Please note that while we don't have a lease, we are still open and fighting to remain at 315 Bowery."

That's actually good news. I will have to pop out there, maybe next month. I really miss the clubs in NYC (the city that is, ohh and the clubs.) I am so grateful to Skip however since he has created some interesting and neat events out here as well.

If you get out to New York check out Webster Hall in the East village. That place is huge and usually has some really cool and wild events going on (I remember one night I saw it change from a swing club in the main room to some disco/new wave something club kinda like something outta Eyes Side Shut, with trapezes and web acts hanging from the ceilings.) Really cool place.

Speaking of Danny elfman... Isn't Oingo considered 80's (new wave-esque?) Do ya'll play Oingo at NWC? I can not recall hearing it...

Damn it now that I am thinking of them "Dead Man's Party" is now stuck in my head!!

Oingo Boingo was never....repeat.... NEVER New Wave. They wish they were. They, too, came from the land of Suck.

...and P'lito would know, as he is the King of Suck.

        Long live the King!

          All hail the king....

dumm duhh duhh... duhh duhh duhh... ohh wait... that's All Hail the Chief...

As your newly annointed king, I hereby order my two subjects Tony and Skip to be banished from the kingdom and sent back to whence they came.

In Skip's case, that would be the small hamlet of Dillwad...not very far from the Shire.

Yes Tony I think Boingo is sorta considered New Wave...I mean they were played with all the other New Wave Stuff back in the 80's....man I HATED Boingo back in the day (they were too nerdy and geeky for me!), but now I totally appreciate them, and wish I'd seen one of their concerts.

I was at Magic Mountain on Saturday and all day long they were playing Halloween music in the park...they must have played about 4 different Boingo songs throughout the day over, and OVER, and OVER! If I hear "Grey Matter" or "Dead Man's Party" ONE MORE freakin' TIME I will surely explode!
