Re: Girls Girls Girls Night - Who played what
Mon, August 7, 2006 - 7:53 AMThanks guys, but when I played Cocteau Twins that was the really the end.
It cleared the floor and most of the bar. I am sorry about that Candy.
You only had a hand full of people for your last set.
I was trying to be too artsy fartsy I guess. ;)
I had a fun time anyways though. It was a really good night. -

Re: Girls Girls Girls Night - Who played what
Mon, August 7, 2006 - 8:35 AMOh and I forgot to mention the Frida song was just for Tony.
That way he could sort of have two Abba songs in a row.
Abba the last song of the 70's set and Frida the first song of the 80's set.
Don't think many people got that one though. ;)

I think people were glued to the dancefloor because you were playing such great, danceable tracks. They were probably waiting for a slower song so they could rest.
> sorry about that Candy.
but she still had a packed dancefloor for the '70s set. -

Re: Girls Girls Girls Night - Who played what
Mon, August 7, 2006 - 4:47 PMWhen Skip played "Crazy" by Patsy Cline a guy from the jazz band looked directly at Tomas in all his finery and said something like 'How appropriate.' Poor Tomas. The Cookies said it best - Don't Say Nothin' Bad (About My Baby) -
-
Re: Girls Girls Girls Night - Who played what
Mon, August 7, 2006 - 4:55 PMNow the question is: Will Tomas wear that same dress out tonight?
-
Re: Girls Girls Girls Night - Who played what
Mon, August 7, 2006 - 4:58 PMWhen we challenge people with a theme or a contest,
we always find out who is creative and fun. Too bad Tomas
was ineligible for the contest, or he would have won pants-down
...er, I mean, hands-down. -

Re: Girls Girls Girls Night - Who played what
Tue, August 8, 2006 - 1:31 PMI thought the goatee made the outfit.
The night was great. Skip I loved your set. Reminded me of very fond memories as a child dancing with my Mom.
Now if we could get the bartenders/owners of Catalyst to realize that extra loud music in the bar area does not equal fun. -
-
Re: Girls Girls Girls Night - Who played what
Tue, August 8, 2006 - 1:50 PM> I thought the goatee made the outfit.
I toyed with the idea of shaving it off, but I'm not ready to see my double chin any time soon.
I added a photo to the gallery here in the tribe... of Decade's hot chick DJs. HOT!
> extra loud music in the bar area does not equal fun
They HAVE purchased and installed a new amp that allows them to control the sound levels in the front vs. the back. But occasionally the owner will say "Oh shit, I love this song!" and play with the volume levels (or, as I like to say, he "hurls a volume grenade at the DJ"). If you're ever uncomfortable with the volume levels, come find me... I'll gladly tell the staff that a volume adjustment is necessary, and work with them until it's better. -

Re: Girls Girls Girls Night - Who played what
Tue, August 8, 2006 - 1:53 PMAmy went up to the bartender during your set and asked to have the volume turned down. We were sitting across from each other and couldn't hear a word. In fact it was even a bit painful. It was turned down a bit but damn. It great to enjoy a song but you don't need to hear it 3 blocks over.

Re: Girls Girls Girls Night - Who played what
Tue, August 8, 2006 - 2:03 PMI think maybe they had the knobs switched that night.
Cause yes it was very loud in the bar area and not as loud in the DJ
area. Which meant the DJ's (speaking for myself) wanted to turn it up.
Cause way over there your never too sure, or at least I am not. ;)
sometimes I'll walk over and check though.
Oh and if you can't find Tomas next time find me and I'll get you a napkin to
wipe the blood from your ears. ;) -
-
Re: Girls Girls Girls Night - Who played what
Tue, August 8, 2006 - 3:09 PMI may have to consider wearing ear plugs there in the future. ;) -
-
Re: Girls Girls Girls Night - Who played what
Tue, August 8, 2006 - 7:25 PMShould you really need earplugs to go to a bar? A concert, or a dance club, I can understand, but a BAR? -
-
This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Girls Girls Girls Night - Who played what
Tue, August 8, 2006 - 10:36 PMNo, you shouldn't need ear plugs at a bar. If the music is up to the level of a concert of a club, then unfortunately yes, for me anyways. ;)
